Heritage can be expressed in many ways. My Heritage Attire gives customers a creative digital space to explore a look, style it piece by piece and proudly share what they've created.
Customers begin with an illustrated character and build their attire through a series of digital choices.
Choose the foundation. Add complementary pieces. Finish the look with appropriate accessories.
With every selection, the character transforms until the complete Heritage Attire is ready for its reveal.

Choose a Heritage Look to Explore
Rather than placing culturally different garments into one giant wardrobe, My Heritage Attire can organise clothing into carefully considered attire collections.
Customers choose the direction they would like to explore before they begin styling.
From there, the available garments and accessories remain appropriate to that collection.
This allows the experience to celebrate variety while giving every look its own identity.
Build It Piece by Piece
Now the transformation begins.
Choose your first garment.
Tap.
It appears on your character.
Choose the next piece.
Tap.
The look develops again.
Add the finishing touches.
Tap.
Your Heritage Attire starts coming together.
Character → Foundation → Style → Details → Complete Look
The fun comes from watching every digital choice make a visible difference.
It's All in the Details
Once the foundation is in place, customers can complete their look with carefully selected details appropriate to the attire being explored.
These could include headwear, beadwork, neckpieces, bracelets, belts, footwear and other relevant accessories.
The available options can be customised for each campaign and should be developed using appropriate cultural references rather than treating heritage attire as interchangeable costume pieces.
The objective is simple:
Give customers creative choice while respecting the attire being represented.
Your Heritage Attire Is Ready
Once the final piece has been selected, the digital controls disappear and the customer’s creation takes centre stage.

The creation itself becomes the reward.
No score.
No ranking.
No deciding whose heritage is more authentic.
Just a personalised look the customer created themselves.
Share Your Heritage Attire
The finished character can become a personalised digital share card.

Now it’s your turn.
Create Your Look →
Customers can share their creation with friends and family and invite someone else into the campaign.
That creates a natural participation loop:
Create → Reveal → Share → Friend Creates → Connect → Share Again
Our Heritage Looks
This is where I think the campaign becomes especially interesting.
When someone follows an invitation and completes their own Heritage Attire, the campaign can bring both creations together.
Our Heritage Looks
Lauren + Friend
[Andy’s Look] + [Friend’s Look]
Different looks. Shared celebration.
The combined result becomes another piece of content they can share.
We’re not asking:
Who’s dressed better?
We’re saying:
Look what we created together.
Our Heritage Gallery
An optional campaign gallery can bring participating creations together in one digital space.
Our Heritage. Our Looks.
With appropriate participant consent, completed illustrated looks can become part of a growing campaign gallery.
No leaderboard.
No “most authentic” award.
No cultural ranking.
Just different creations displayed together as part of the Heritage Day experience.
Bring Fashion into the Experience
My Heritage Attire can also become a powerful product-discovery campaign for fashion retailers, designers, accessory brands and shopping centres.
Approved real products can become part of the digital builder.
Customers might choose a garment from one retailer, an accessory from another and footwear from another participating brand.
Instead of simply seeing those products in an advert, customers actively use them to create their look.
Love Your Look?
The finished creation can optionally connect back to the products used.

This creates a natural journey:
Create → Style → Discover → Share → Shop
For shopping centres, participating fashion retailers can contribute selected items to the experience while the campaign remains centred on creativity rather than advertising.

Make It Your Own

For fashion-focused clients, real products can be incorporated. For broader Heritage Day campaigns, the emphasis can remain on creative expression, participation and sharing.
Most importantly, culturally specific attire should be developed from appropriate references and represented thoughtfully.

Bring Your Brand Into Mzansi
Build Your Mzansi can be adapted for shopping centres, retailers, FMCG brands, restaurants, hotels, tourism destinations, events and other Heritage Day promotions.
A food brand could become part of the plate. A tourism campaign could introduce destinations into the landscape choices. Restaurants could feature dishes, while shopping centres could incorporate experiences or products from participating tenants.
The brand becomes part of what customers choose rather than simply advertising around the experience.
Many Choices. One Mzansi.
The food, music, questions, environments, illustrations and final result can all be customised around the campaign.
Most importantly, Build Your Mzansi doesn’t try to decide what South Africa should look like.
Every customer gets to build their own.
